Description

Last week a client asked me, “what would be a truly unique Scottish Tour?” After all, many people end up touring the same trodden path around Scotland. As a result they often miss some of the most charming and lesser known spots. With this in mind we have created this unique bespoke tour of the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh.

Introduction to the Scottish Borders

The peace, beauty and tranquility of the Scottish Borders are hard to comprehend. Especially when you consider its history, and that in the past, the beautiful Borders was once a battleground. Nowadays the River Tweed meanders through beautiful scenery and charming market towns. This is a unique opportunity to combine fishing and touring in a real Hidden Gems region of Scotland The Scottish Borders.

This unique tour is aimed at those who cherish authenticity and want to explore the lesser trodden beauty of Scotland. The good news is that the Borders is only a 1 hour drive south of Edinburgh Airport.

In addition, this bespoke tour, is designed for those looking to combine fishing and touring in style.

To begin, you’ll enjoy guided tours through the region’s stunning landscapes, rich in history and natural beauty. Then you’ll have the opportunity to fish in the world famous River Tweed system. In fact, the River Tweed is the most prolific salmon river in Scotland.

World Class fly fishing on the Tweed system

The River Tweed and its tributaries offer fishing for salmon , sea trout , brown trout ,and grayling. Equally the smaller tributaries the River Whiteadder and River Teviot offer superb fishing for salmon, trout and grayling.

Meanwhile our team of world class guides have fished the Tweed system their whole life. They are knowledgeable, chilled and free from egos. In fact their only concern is your enjoyment and catching fish.

Moreover, your stay will be at the luxurious Schloss Roxburghe Hotel, a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The hotel offers a serene atmosphere and is set in beautiful grounds with an on-site golf course. Furthermore, it is perfectly located to access the best spots on the River Tweed and Teviot for salmon, trout and grayling fishing.

Finally, these bespoke tours are delivered at your comfort and pace. The mix of fishing and touring is entirely up to you. In addition to the fishing, touring and accommodation, we take care of airport transfers. Also we offer a concierge service prior to your arrival. For example we can arrange private visits to Woolen Mills or bagpipe sessions. To conclude, here are some of the reason why you should consider the Scottish Borders, for a unique tour.

What to expect in the Scottish Borders

Intriguing Mysteries

Rosslyn Chapel is worth a visit for those interested in mystery, knights templar, the Holy Grail and UFO sightings! It really is a must-see destination for those drawn to the unknown.

Unique Landscapes
It’s hard to believe, that the Scottish Borders offer some of the most mesmerizing landscapes in all of Scotland. The region’s gently undulating hills are dotted with crumbling castles and ancient ruins. All of this is set against lush, green farmland and mixed woodlands.

Filming Locations
Interestingly, the Scottish Borders have served as the backdrop for some of the most iconic films and TV series in recent years. Including The Da Vinci Code, Tarzan, Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Meanwhile the area’s enchanting castles, chapels, and gardens are magical places to visit.

Colourful History
Equally, the Scottish Borders has a rich and often turbulent history. Today, the peaceful landscape belies the centuries of conflict that shaped it. The region was once conquered by the Romans and later plagued by the infamous Border Reivers, notorious for their raids and lawlessness. Exploring the area gives you a deeper appreciation for the historical forces that have shaped both the land and its people.

Whisky Distilleries

In Scotland, Whisky derives its name from Uisge Beatha meaning the ‘water of life’. In addition to other tour activities, we can arrange distillery visits to the famous Glenkinchie Distillery south of Edinburgh.
