Fly Fishing courses for beginners in Scotland
Firstly our fly fishing lessons are held in various fishing venues throughout Scotland. Furthermore, we mix theory with practical, teaching you the techniques for success, In addition you’ll learn about the different methods of fly fishing, and what fishing tackle to use. Likewise you will learn about the most effective flies and how to read a river. Beginners can learn various fly casting techniques, whilst intermediates can fine tune their skills.
Secondly, the day starts with some theory in the fishing huts, using AV equipment and videos. Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, we put theory into practice. Therefore, guests get on the water to try casting techniques, with the ultimate aim to catch a trout. Lastly, you’ll learn the roll – cast and then to the overhead cast, two key fly casts, to get you up and running.
Courses on Trout Lochs
To begin with, we hold these courses for beginners on a beautiful, secluded trout loch 40 mins from Edinburgh. The loch is one of the finest trout lochs close to Edinburgh. It is carefully managed, and has 3 acres of exciting trout fishing. All fishing is from the shore. The trout are easy to catch, hard fighting and caught on the surface, usually on dry flies.
Lunch can be included in a fully equipped lochside cabin. At the end of this exciting day, we will provide you with a certificate, and a baseball hat.
River Fishing courses – Learn Dry Fly and Euronymphing
Meanwhile, if your interest is learning to fish on river, courses can be held anywhere in Scotland. Your guides are in the current Scotland fly fishing team and are river experts. You’ll learn how to fish the dry fly, wet fly, Euronymph and dry dropper. Moreover, you’ll learn when and why to use these methods.
Last year 2023, we delivered courses in Aberdeenshire, Caithness, Inverness, The Highlands, The Borders, Glasgow and Edinburgh and Perth.
