OVERVIEW
Alba Game Fishing Ltd arranges fishing trips and corporate events throughout Scotland. The offering covers the cost of the fishing permits, and professional guides. There is an option for photography of the day, with the images being delivered to Dropbox and a link shared.
Transport is sometimes provided usually in a Volvo XC90 or Mercedes people carrier (extra cost), depending on the size of the group and type of trip. Alba Game Fishing hold Hire and Reward Insurance to cover safe transport of guests.
On the odd occasions, if the venue has a suitable fishing hut, we can prepare lunches. This is dependant on the cooking abilities of your guide on the day. If lunch is included, the food is generally prepared in a kitchen that passes elementary food hygiene standards and is kept chilled and re-heated at site. In some instances food will be cooked on site, dependent on the dish. The ingredients used for lunches are fresh and of high quality (usually organic).
Accommodation can be provided or arranged, the cost of which is sometimes included in packages and other times omitted. This will be detailed for each booking.
BOOKING AND DEPOSIT
- A 50% deposit of the total package cost for each trip is due to Alba Game Fishing Ltd to secure the trip reservation.
- Full payment for all Alba Game Fishing Ltd trips is due 90 days prior to departure and start of trip. Where a booking is made at short notice and within 90 days, the full balance will be taken to guarantee the trip.
- We cannot guarantee a trip or place a trip on provisional hold until the deposit funds are received. Bookings therefore are secured on a first to pay deposit basis.

CANCELLATION AND CONDITIONS
CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY FOR ALL ALBA GAME FISHING TRIPS (except Coronavirus affected trips – see below)
Upon trip and voucher cancellations on the part of or based on the decision of the customer, Alba Game Fishing Ltd will refund the trip less a 20% administration fee and the following non refundable costs:
- Non refundable fishing permits- that have been purchased in advance
- Non refundable hotel bookings – where rooms have been secured by pre payment or invoicing
- Non refundable services bought in, such as tour guides, and transport services
- Portion of VAT paid to HMRC Tax at a rate of 20%
All cancellations must be given in writing to Alba Game Fishing Ltd.
- Cancellation outside of 90 days = a portion of the trip deposit or final payment may be refunded or transferred to another date or angler
- Cancellation inside of 90 days = No refund of deposit or payment.
- On cancellation notices inside of 90 days, partial refunds/transfers may be made IF suitable replacement is provided by customer.
TRIP RESCHEDULING
If a trip needs rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, we can contact the hotels and permit providers and request alternative dates. This is of course subject to availability.
Insurance
We recommend all guests take out travel insurance. In addition guests from USA should complete the necessary travel documentation for entry to the UK.
Documentation Requirements: All U.S. citizens need a valid passport to enter Scotland.
- Passport: A valid passport with at least three months validity, however six months is recommended.
- ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). It costs £10 to apply. Everyone travelling needs to get an ETA, applications are non-refundable. Application is submitted online: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
- Visa: At the time of writing, US citizens do not require a tourist visa for entry to Scotland for stays less than 90 days.
CANCELATION POLICY FOR TRIPS AFFECTED BY CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
For all trips currently booked:
If customers are unable to make a trip due to official travel restrictions put in place due to the Coronavirus virus, all payments will be credited to a future trip. Valid for 36 months. The hotels and the fishing permit sellers will be able to offer rescheduled dates.
If customers are fearful of traveling and pull out, or they pull out voluntarily, no refund is given and we would offer guests a 25% discount on a future trip. This would be valid for 24 months. Compensation for trips cancelled under these circumstances should be handled through the clients travel insurer and Alba would assist by working with the insurer by providing vital information.
If customers are traveling to Scotland from a High Risk area the British Government are recommending that upon arrival to the UK they self isolate. Alba Game Fishing therefore will reserve the right to try to reschedule an amended date for the trip, which falls within these guidelines. If the rearranged date incurs differences in fishing permit prices or hotel rates, then adjustments will be made.
TRIP INSURANCE – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Because many deposits and final payments for trip packages are non-refundable, it is highly recommended that you purchase trip insurance in the event that you have to cancel, postpone or reschedule your trip for any reason. Please be aware that this is the only way that Alba Game Fishing Ltd can assist you with compensation for a cancelled trip.
Alba Game Fishing Limited reserves the right to cancel your booking in which case we will offer an alternative booking of equivalent standard or a full refund.
OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES/ CONSIDERATIONS
Every care is taken when compiling brochure & promotional material to ensure the information is correct. However we are unable to accept liability when circumstances beyond our control result in the facilities described being altered or withdrawn.

Neither Alba Game Fishing Limited nor any person assisting it shall be liable for the consequences of delays or restrictions from adverse weather, obstructions, repairs or damage to navigational works, flooding, shortage of water, industrial action, fuel- rationing, shortages of or non-availability of fuel or any other cause and reserve the right to restrict the activity if unusual or hazardous conditions prevail.
Alba Game Fishing carry Tour Operators Combined Liability Insurance. £5 million public/ products liability. £250k Professional Indemnity and Emergency Assistance. Conditions set out as follows:
i. All guests must wear sunglasses or other eye protection when fishing
ii. All wading must be done in a depth of water below knee level. If guests wade deeper than the safety guidelines, Alba Game Fishing shall not be liable for any accidents and our insurance is invalidated.
If a claim is brought against Alba Game Fishing, this must be done in a UK court, We have no assets in the USA.
All instructions and decisions given by stalkers, keepers and gillies will be final and must be followed. Failure to comply with such instructions or decisions may result in the cancellation of the rest of the tenancy. In the event of cancellation under the terms of this clause, there will be no right to a refund or compensation.
Where appropriate all sportsmen will be required to comply with instructions to clean tackle, which has been used on a fishery where there is a risk of contamination by the Gyrodactylus Salaris parasite and sign the declaration supplied by Alba Game Fishing Ltd. All guests must have third party insurance against sporting or touring accidents.
Client must pay for rod breakages, which occur from misuse or neglect by paying a nominal fee towards replacement of the rod in question (like for like). When rods that carry a lifetime guarantee are broken, courier costs should be covered by the client.
Your contract with Alba Game Fishing Limited is subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.

Additional Equipment: In addition to rods and reels the lodge has waders, boots, PFDs, wading jackets, polarized sunglasses, and wading staffs for guests to use.
Waders/Boots: Breathable waders are a must. Most anglers prefer breathable, stocking foot, chest waders and wading boots. For boots we recommend rubber-soled wading boots. Felt soles are allowed in Scotland, but please, keep them clean and dry. If you prefer not to travel with your own, boots and waders are available from the outfitter.
